This journal is mostly protected.

Some things I post public...
...because I want feedback or to share information.
These could be sketches and other pieces of artwork, news items, etc.

Some things I post friends-only...
...because i talk about my personal life, and a lot of it's not for public consumption.
If you think we'll play nicely, comment to be added.

Since I'm not bringing my underwear in (and other sorts of things) for game-participation, I'm hoping a cartoon of the bride-to-be will be a cute gift to counteract my avoidance of all things uncomfortable ;)

Before I head to bed (and on a trip tomorrow), I thought I'd post these drawings.

The first is a doodle I churned out after talking to some friends from home about a bachelorette party. I might clean it up and colour it, as a silly little gift to the bride-to-be, but I don't know if I have time.

The second is a collection of faces I drew with my brush and ink. I know there are a lot of mistakes, but I didn't always use a pencil first, so... there. lol.

Anyway, hope you like 'em!

Things have been kind of busy. And I've been distracted. But, here are some people I've drawn over the past couple of weeks :)

I'm trying to finish more.

I tend to start projects that end up becoming huuuuge. Then, I get discouraged and I scrap 'em, when I realise I don't have the know-how to make them materialise.

So, I have a pile of scrap paper squares from my old job (yes, still, with the scrap paper) and I'm going to try to fill them all. Each one gets a subject. And, as an added bonus, I'm going to either draw or go over my pencil lines with ink and a brush---to practice because my hand is soooo not steady.

I was watching Canada's Next Top Model for the first two. (And yes, I know the first one's neck is way off.) The third? Not sure why the cat has piercings.

Comments and advice are always welcome. Be tactful!

I'm trying something new. Not sure what it is yet. There'll be other characters from other shows, I think. I just want this to be a fun project to work on when I can't write or sketch, y'know?

I'm pretty sick today. But, I tried to colour a fanart sketch I did at work yesterday. I need more practice with colouring. And drawing. Anyway, I thought I'd post it here to show you guys, too.

Subject: William Petersen
Prompts: :D and Weird Facial Expressions
Number of Pictures: 16 and 19, respectively
Innocent Bystanders: Marg Helgenberger, Edward James Olmos, and a glimpse of Gary Dourdan
Notes: I decided I should take the plunge and try a picspam for [info]the_friday_spam, but when I was going through my WP pictures, I couldn't decide what prompt to pick, so I did two! Hopefully that's okay. I tried to adhere to the rules as best as I could, but it was late when I was putting this together, so if I missed something, let me know, and I'll fix it! // Also, most of the pictures come from GraveshiftCSI, but a couple come from the William Petersen Appreciation Page. The watermarks weren't cropped so I could pretend they're mine---just for space-constraints! // Some of the weird faces are smiles, but they're not regular smiles (he's either looking a little too devious or something) so I included them in the second prompt instead.

The rest are under the cut )

I found these sketches all rolled up in my bag. Thought I'd post them here since I haven't posted any sketches in a while.

Ron Silver dead at 62.

When you see this, quote Bruno Gianelli:

"Yeah. Uh, listen up. I've been thinking it might not be such a bad idea to lock you all in here and set the place on fire. We have 48 hours before we kick off this campaign. We will work hard. We will work well. We will work together. Or so help me, mother of God, I will stick a pitchfork so far up your asses, you will, quite simply, be dead."

Indigo Books targets e-book market chapter by chapter

Canadian book retailer Indigo Books & Music Inc. has launched a web service for people who read books and articles online or on mobile devices.

With Shortcovers.com, launched officially on Thursday, the Toronto-based owner of chapters.indigo.ca seeks to expand its audience from people who buy books electronically to people who read them that way - a market that other online retailers such as Amazon.com have targeted heavily in the past two years. Indigo, which bills itself as Canada's largest book retailer, sells books both online and at stores across the country.

Indigo's new service focuses on providing "bite-sized" chunks of about 5,000 words such as individual book chapters, short stories, blogs, magazines, newspaper articles and pieces written and uploaded by users. That includes "fan fiction" written by fans of specific books, TV shows or movies, using the characters and settings from those books or TV shows.

Free and paid content can be viewed online or transferred to mobile devices using mobile apps that are distributed through iTunes and the Shortcovers website.

According to the Shortcovers official blog, by Friday users in 56 countries had signed up, and more than 1,000 downloaded its mobile applications...

So Chapters is now distributing fanfiction? Can't we all just handle our fandom addictions ourselves without help from big business?

So today's art post is all [info]angiescully's fault. Because we were talking back and forth on my last post and then I had to go back to work but they ran out of things for me to do so I started to doodle. And since I've just picked up a new fandom to obsess over, that's what I started to draw. No photo references, and it's not awesome, but it's the first thing I've coloured digitally and finished in a very long time (or so it feels), so I'm trying to be pleased with it!
